Since Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean has been an “inland sea” which serves as a route for trade between different ports and has allowed to develop communications and the growth of trade. Each port has developed towns in its vicinity which are still centers of attraction to this day:
Athens, Rome, Alexandria, Marseille, Barcelona, Naples, Genoa...and Limassol
Since the 19th century with the opening of the Suez Canal, the Mediterranean has made it possible to extend the trade zone from Crimea to the Indian Ocean and the development of ports. Mediterranean see is really real the common point between all European countries!
